Was He An ANGEL?

Lately Jace and I have been discussing some future decisions. To be honest, we aren't sure if Jace is done playing baseball. He has a talent, and should be able to use that talent to his ability right? However, he has been putting lots of time into his degree getting ready to go to some sort of Medical School. We've just been STUCK! We've now reached that fork, we aren't sure what to do, which road to try to take, maybe try both but keep Medical School first? So many choices. So Jace got a blessing from his dad, we've prayed and fasted and Jace began the phone calls that he would need to make in order to get a baseball career going. We've been patient.

Today at the mall doing some Christmas shopping with Kylee and Trish, a man approached us in Sports Authority. He was dressed like all the other workers, except he wasn't wearing a name tag. He was old, had white hair, and he tapped me on my wheel chair and said, " what happened to you dear?" I told him all about my wreck and he could relate! He had a son that loved baseball and became paralyzed when he slid into home plate. Of course that brought up the next subject, baseball. He told us how his son had the chance to play professionally and then I told him that my husband and I were in the same boat. He said " Well there is definitely more to life than baseball, you have eternity together." I immediately looked down at myself to see if my garments were showing or something that would give away the fact that I'm LDS, nothing was giving that away. Then, he grabbed my hand and looked my straight in the eyes and said, "But don't let him stop playing until he makes that decision to be done, don't let him stop because it really can work!" My heart was so overwhelmed! Where on earth did he come from, approaching us in the mall, knowing that "eternity" was a very important word in our religion, the baseball connection the wheel chair connection, how did what he said pertain to EVERYTHING we've been praying about for the past few months?! I could not even tell you his name, the next thing he said was, " well I don't want to keep you too long but promise me one thing that you'll get better?" and I said, "deal." And he disappeared in the clothes. Trish and I looked at each other and both had tears in our eyes and I said, "was he an angel?!" And she said, "I thought the same thing!! How did he know all of that!!" We were so overwhelmed with relief that we just wanted to go home after that because we knew that was an answer to prayers! My heart wanted to jump out of my chest! That was it, it just was and we all knew it, you could feel it! The spirit was so strong!

Yes, the old man was right, there is more to life than baseball, but we also know that it can work too! Reassurance is helpful, now we know that the Good Shepherd has answered our prayers through the hands of another. How incredible.

The Church Is True!! Wish Us Luck On This Journey!
