toothpaste on the mirror

for our wedding someone gave us this story called, Toothpaste on the Mirror. we read it one night and hopefully i can summarize it for you. it described a couple who fought a lot about little things. the wife was always mad about her husband getting toothpaste on the mirror when he brushed his teeth. they would get in huge arguements about it and wouldn't talk for days. her husband was later killed in a car accident... she missed him so much and felt regretful about getting mad about silly things. a few days after he died, toothpaste was still appearing on the mirror. she never understood what was going on, until she realized he wasn't the only one who would get toothpaste on the mirror when brushing his teeth... she did it too.

while cleaning the bathroom that following saturday jace flipped toothpaste on the mirror and without realizing it i said, "Jace! you just got toothpaste on my clean mirror!" he said, "it's just toothpaste on the mirror babe!" and winked at me.

now whenever we realize we are arguing about something stupid, we call it toothpaste on the mirror and we willingly move on from the situation and smile :)
