So here is a recap!

Some of the fun things we did in 2016 in NO SORT of chronological order:

Traveled to see Mckinley play to Vegas

Traveled to see Mckinley play all over Utah

Hayes played city soccer for the first time and it was a riot! He scored a goal the very first game and then never scored again. He would run sideways and look at all the fans more than anything it was hilarious. He was a hell of a goalie! He would dive on the ball and run out and tackle it before kids had a chance to score.

Soph turned 2 and started talking in full sentences really early. She was potty trained in 3 days and then had a relapse. I'm not sure if it was due to me having little baby Murphy, or that I didn't want to risk her having an accident in my new home, but nonetheless she is in pull up for a bit now.

We moved out of our home into a storage shed, then flew to South Carolina! That was so fun and not as hard as I thought it'd be. My kids did excellent on the long plane rides. We went to see Charlie the alligator and went swimming and it was so fun to see Randee Trevin and Russell.

Once we got back from South Carolina we moved into Tricia's rented apartment! Then we moved everyone into her new home she built. THEN 4 months later we moved into our new home we built! Building a home was one of the highlights of 2016 for me. I enjoyed the entire process. I want to do it again soon.

We did lots of fireworks this last summer and spent most of our days playing in the dirt hills (which are now house lots) Hayes loves playing with Chesney and Cabrie.

Murphy was born October 20th! He was 7.11 and 19.5 inches. My biggest baby yet. He has a hard time pooping, but we got him on a probiotic and it seems to be helping a lot.

My sister had her twin girls Joy and Layne I think 8 weeks early! My mom flew out there to be with her for a couple months which was hard, but oh so needed. While she was gone Chels and I got together as often as we could and she came to help me when I had Murphy.

We went to Gardener Village and ate Thanksgiving at Trish's house with just our close family.

This year we've taken the kids to see Moana, Trolls, Kung Fu Panda 3, Sing and a few more; but these were the highlights!

We went to Kangaroo Zoo and Lowe's Extreme Airsports and my kids had a blast!

We've gone tubing in the snow a lot and Hayes loves it! He is a riot.

Hayes did and continues to do well in preschool. He loves little readers academy! He is learning letters, sounds, numbers, shapes, and colors. He comes home almost every day with a new song.

My friend Lauren has helped A TON with picking up and dropping off while I've had a new babe. I'm so grateful!! Kylee my sister in law has helped a ton too.

Hayes is still obsessed with the Ninja Turtles and could sing the entire Shell Shocked song by Wiz Kalifa! We have TONS of dance parties and he and Soph just go nuts I love it! Her favorite song is Can't Stop the Feeling by none other than JT!!!

Sophee has the biggest lisp ever and is super smart. She loves to get a rise out of her brother and steals his toys and runs because no-one can catch her and she knows it. She walks around with a phone, baby, and purse and I think she is imitating me! She loves to put on "pretties" which is lipgloss. She will ask me every single day to "pain ma nailssss" and "do ma her". So we paint nails and do her hair. She loves getting all dolled up, but then the next minute she is right there hanging with the boys like the best of them!

Murphy is a little chatter box and is starting to giggle. We blessed him January 1st and it was a special day. Jace always does a good job!

Over the summer the Brinkerhoff girls went to the Dixie Chicks concert which was a BLAST! Holy cow it was awesome. We bought tickets a year prior so that was fun to look forward to.

After 0-6 with school counseling interviews I got a job at 4 weeks post baby. It didn't seem like a blessing then, but with the help of family and friends it has been such a blessing.

Jace and I celebrated 6 years together! Wow does time fly. Especially when you are having fun. We've come a long way as a couple! We've been through so many high's and low's and there is no-one else I'd rather do it with.

Gram and Pop came to sleep over and we went to build a bear for the first time ever! Soph did a Poppy the Troll and of course Hayes did Leonardo.

East and Eryn and Chels slept over for the first time too when I had Murph. It was so fun!

Hayes was the only sunbeam to remember his entire part during the sacrament program. We worked so hard to memorize it and he nailed it! "This year we have learned to prepare now to be worthy to go to the temple by living the gospel standards" yeah it was a hard one! Some kids got up there and were like "Jesus loves everyone" and they were older kids! Hayes got this one and completely killed it. Everyone loves him at church and preschool because he is such a sweet heart and such a good kid.

Soph is warming up to nursery. It depends on the day, but most days I am in there with her. I know this won't last forever and one day she will be off and running with her free spirit and wild at heart attitude and I'll miss these days, so I try to really be in the moment with her. Sassy, spit fire, independent, confident, Sophee Jo (sodee doooe as she would say).

Jace had ankle surgery right before we had Murph. It was super stressful and his recovery was a little rough, but we got through it.

Jace also picked up a ton of home health! He is killing it at work right now. I hope that always stays the same. He works so hard and is so exhausted by the end of the day, but we love him for it.

We bought a lot of fun new furniture and decorations for our new home! It finally feels like home. It is so exciting to just have a place to call our own that we did and paid for all by ourselves.

We also paid off our car and bought a 2011 Ford Explorer through an auction that could not have worked out any better! We got it for half it's going rate, with a little hail damage, and it is fully loaded with only 50,000 miles on it. STEAL. We fixed some of the hail damage, you can still see some, but it is as the saying goes "it's what's on the inside that counts!"

We have yet to take our kids anywhere super cool, mainly because we don't have a ton of free time or time to take off, and also it's so expensive!! Hopefully 2017 can bring about a fun trip or two. Even if it's just camping.

Hayes went on his first hunt with Jace. He woke up at 4 am and everything! He sang songs on the radio the entire ride to Filmore and then ate an entire bag of twix with Uncle Gene while he told him all about his life.

Soph dislocated her arm so many times, the doc finally taught us how to pop it back in place!!

All the kids are where they need to be with their milestones and nothing makes me happier.

Life is great and this is a pretty messy update, but rightfully so. The last year was crazy! Lots of fun, lots of change, lots of love. Bring it on 2017. We are ready for you!

Holy Cow it has literally been a year since I last blogged.... that's embarrassing. I've been so busy, but it might be time to get every memory off of my phone that I've typed in as they've come. I have a little more access to a computer lately, so perhaps I will start up this blog again. I never feel motivated to blog because I don't think anyone reads it, but I have to remember this is my only version of a journal for my kiddos to have when they are older.

HAYES LATELY:

LAST YEAR when Hayes was 2 (that's embarrassing) he would read entire books to me that he had memorized like Olaf the Snowman and Little Blue Truck. He would just start reading them out of nowhere and I thought it was amaze-balls!

he was also really good at memorizing and reciting movie quotes like "wisten to MEEE smalls, it's a matter of wife and death, where did you old man get that ball?!" cutest thing ever.

He was also really in to growling Frosty the Snowman everywhere we went while there was snow on the ground and I died laughing every. time.

Some of his most common replies are "uh huh, sure" and "sure, why not" or "okay, sure!" or "oh alright!" Like a big boy and so optimistic with the sure's (pronounced just like it is spelled without the h sound). He also went up to Soph when she was a baby and said "so much I love you Soap!" Like Yoda. Awesomeness.

He also waited up for me one school night just to get a kiss goodnight. melt.

His night routine has changed over the years, but I use to "say goodnight, sleep good, have good dreams, sleep tight, love you," and he'd repeat it ALL back and laugh and then he added "wake up play baseball!"

This night was HILARIOUS.
me: you're the best brother
Hayes: i'm the best baseball player
me: you're the best baseball player who ever lived
Hayes: OH MY GOSH YOU MEAN THAT'S THE SAME GUY? (sandlot quote.... without hesitation) He sat and quoted that movie for 20 minutes that night. "I said sut up.... lot of tings on my mind."

When Hayes gets mad he says "mom don't say dat to me right dis! Don't say shhh right dis!" And he copies everything I say. Which has sometimes gotten me in trouble (like when I said Jace you are kind of being an asshole.... :0)

He introduces himself as Hayes Barber Brinkerhoff the Baseball Player everywhere we go!

After Hayes turned 3 he was still super funny, but we will save that for next time!

SOPHEE LATELY:

Soph just turned 1 in September and MAN SHE IS A HANDFUL!!!!

she claps whenever we say yay or whenever she sees anyone else clap
she can say wow, hi, mama, dada, Hayes, what's that (all with the cutest lisp ever)
she knows what a cow, dog, snake, and duck say! But chooses when she wants to participate.
she will give high fives, say "ot oh" and drop things on purpose, and she will fake cough with you for hours!

she also plays this game where she'll make a big loud noise and if you repeat it she will bust a gut! We play this game over and over and her belly laugh is so cute!

she loves to throw golf balls, dance when she hears music, and she climbs onto or into EVERYTHING!

one thing she does right now that I don't ever want to forget is she will come between me and the counter or just come grab onto my legs and hug them because she wants to be picked up. She loves to be held and see what you are doing up there on those high counter tops!

Sophee Jo was born on September 10, 2014 at 7:48 a.m. She was 7.1 lbs and 19 in. She came out with slightly red hair which quickly turned brown and it there was a ton! She was completely healthy and didn't have to be in the NICU so we were so grateful. Her birth story is quite simple, but for documenting purposes I'll share it.

I knew I advance again the exact day is deliver because of my need to have c sections. It was a Wednesday and the Tuesday before I was a nervous wreck. My mom slept over to help with Hayes the next day while I delivered, and that was so helpful to get my mind off things. I was mostly nervous about the epidural and worried if our new baby girl would have breathing problems because Hayes did. We went to bed Tuesday night and woke up at 4:45 Wednesday morning. Driving to the hospital with Hayes the song motor boating came on and it got me in a zone that I couldn't shake, so this time I scanned the radio to find a song that I could sing whenever I felt nervous. OBVIOUSLY Taylor Swifts shake it off came on and whenever I was nervous I'd sing "I never miss a beat, I'm lightning on my feet!!" It helped until my epidural...... My nurses were awesome, the IV went well, we talked sports with the nurse which is right up our ally because her daughter played at UVU as well, but then the anesthesiologist came in and the great birth story demolished. He was so rough and had me lay on my side instead of sitting, which I much rather prefer, and he just didn't give me time to catch my breath before each dose of medicine and before I knew it I was out of breath and bawling. This is not like me so Jace was so caught off guard and when he asked what was going on I made it a point to say the guy was being way too rough. I will personally request that he does not do it for my next kid. It was that bad.

After that I was wheeled into surgery and this c section was somewhat different (because of the anesthesiologist). He wasn't going to let Jace watch or film until he told him that's what he did with Hayes, I had terrible chest pains for the duration of the surgery and after that is pretty common with c sections, and this time I could hear them cutting my skin. Barf. There was a student there and I felt just like the patients on Greys Anatomy, except for most of those patients die so I had to quickly change that train of thought. Last time they forgot to stretch my cervix so that all the fluids could pass and I started contracting AFTER delivery, so I made sure that mistake wasn't made again. Ya, that's how much I don't dilate... The doctor has to manually go in and stretch my cervix so that all the after birth can pass.... Too much? Too much, too much. Thanks car accident!!!!!

Then soon after the cutting, Jace was allowed to film and a few tugs and boom baby girl was here! She was screaming her lungs out which was awesome! Often times c section babies are surprised with their own arrival, Ya know they didn't decide to come through the birth canal and what no, so their lungs take some time to get going; but not my Sophee! Clearly this is a sign of how stubborn and independent she is going to be as she ages. I'm in for it if she is anything like me!!! I was able to see her right away and Jace just brought her over and held her in front of me (still strapped down). It was awesome.

Then he left with her to go get bathed and I was stitched up and taken to my recovery room. On the way I passed my little Hayeser with my parents and mother in law and I was so excited to see them all! Especially Hayes, I was so excited for him to see his baby sister. I wasn't able to be with them for a bit, they had to monitor me for a while, then I was taken to a room that allowed visitors and it was quite a reunion with Sophee and Hayes and Jace and I. Her name was undecided for quite some time because we couldn't decide on one we both loved, but I think she looked like a Sophee so Jace caved. Plus the nurses were bugging us for a name so they could decorate her cute little bin she slept in, so we finally made a decision.

Now Sophee is about 6 1/2 weeks old, she struggled a lot with reflux at first, we went through gripe water, colic calm, and then back to kidecol before she was finally feeling relief. She wasn't having very many poopy diapers, she was screaming and pulling her knees up a ton, and only sleeping 2-3 hours. Once we got her on kidecol she slept 5 hours twice in a row and has been pretty consistent with that ever since. I shouldn't have gone straight to kidecol because it worked for Hayes, but we were advised to try these other ones first. I also cut out some big dairy products and I think that is helping her. She is a little chunk now! I can't wait for her 2 month appointment to see what her stats are.

Love our family of four! Baby number 2. Nailed it.

Love,
It has been a few months since I've blogged, so I've got some catching up to do! This is more for journaling purposes, so do not feel obligated to read along; but if you'd like to know how my summer went, how pregnancy went, how my little Hayes' birthday went, and about my new baby girl please feel free to read along!

Summer was dreamy considering I was pregnant. I really stayed on top of my weight gain with this baby and only gained 26 pounds (as opposed to a whopping 50 pounds last time). Over the summer Hayes vocabulary grew a ton! He learned so much before he turned two it was mind blowing how much he was beginning to pick up on. Over the summer we went to Lava and he LOVED it. They had an awesome kiddie pool and Hayes lived there with grandma. We also went to San Diego for a tournament I was coaching in and took Hayes to Sea World, which I wasn't too happy about considering my love for Black Fish. Hopefully that place goes out of business soon. We took Hayes to the beach and he hated how the waves would roll in it was pretty funny!! The only crappy part about summer was that Jace was so busy with school he couldn't come with us anywhere :(. My twin was here for the end of May and she stayed with me for a bit it was so fun! I miss her a ton. I don't have any pictures from our summer on this device, so you are just going to have to believe me that it was AWESOME! I also coached this summer, the Renegades, but it wasnt as fun as I'd hoped. The girls were kind of faking their friendships, some stuff was kind of catty, and I would go into detail further but I just don't feel like it. I love them all so much, but it is just clear that they need to all move on to their own schools with new girls; which most of them did!

For Hayes birthday we had a little party for him in Lava with my family and he got so many fun things including ice cream, his favorite, a Cars four wheel toy, and a 3 little pigs play set that he still loves!!! Then we had a fun little swim party with his buddies in Spanish Fork and that was fun too. Man is he growing up so fast. I have sooo many funny things written down that he has said or done lately, but I'll save that for a later post to keep you on your seat.

Jace and I are starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel with our Grad Programs! We both only have a year and a half left and we are more than anxious to be done. Jace finished his first clinical and LOVED it. He was sad to have to go back to school. I start my practicum in January and cannot wait to get in a school setting. The end is near everyone!! In a good way.

Here are some fun pictures from my phone of What we've been up to lately:
My little Hayes isn't so little anymore! We've been so busy with school, coaching, and me being prego again I haven't has time to blog! A few updates on life at the Hoff house:

Jace is a year into his program!! One more to go

I am two months from the year mark in my program! Masters degrees and so much more here we come!

Hayes is 21 months old. Where did the time go.

We moved again. Into a three bedroom town home that is so cute!!

Jace and I bought new couches! Our first really big purchase together haha.

I am 24 weeks pregnant with a little baby girl!

I also wanted to give some updates on sweet little Hayeser. He loves baseball, he hits, runs, slides, has a helmet, bat, ball, glove everywhere we go. He says " he da ball he da ball go go go go!" It is so.much.fun. He likes basketball too but nothing compares to baseball. I guess he did t have a choice really haha.

He is almost putting sentences together! Some words he has learned lately are: circle, sweet, sucks, more, no, yes, bye, love you, amen, baseball, truck, and so many more!

He loves Mickey Mouse and loves to say toddles and "ha dog" he is an excellent little dancer too. Holy cow he gets that elbow going and doesn't stop for the hot dog dance!! He has been recorded at public places by absolute strangers, so awesome.

There are certain things he let's dad do and certain things he let's mom do. Our bedtime routine is probably the most critical. Dad has to sit in the chair with Hayes, mom stand by the crib, we read a story, say prayers, then he gives loves and kisses to dad, then comes to me for a little cuddle before bed. He lays his head on my shoulder and he must have picked up on me patting his back and rubbing it because he does it back to me and I melt every time. Then I lay him down and give him all his animals (Molly the monkey, puppy, and other puppy that sings) and tell him I love him and rub his head. I love it.

There is so much more I could say, I will blog soon again, but for now enjoy!!

It has been a while since I posted anything about my sweet, silly Hayes! He is hilarious and constantly on the move. Right now he is enjoying:

Putting a ball on a t and hitting it off.

Dancing and moving his arm really crazy. Super funny.

Chasing Dot. BEST ENTERTAINMENT!!

Saying Ot-Oh, Mama, Dada, Gama, OT (Dot)

Imitating the sound of a snake, dog, cow, bear, lion, the Hulk (you'll understand later), dinosaur.

Loves Mickey Mouse. He is obsessed.

Sleeping with Mickey or Goofy.

Waving, blowing kisses, giving kisses, crushing spiders.

Running everywhere (especially away from mommy when a diaper changing is in order).

He loves strawberries, pineapples, grapes.

Otherwise is a picky eater and it is DIFFICULT!

Loves books, animals, and carving pumpkins.

I have some fun pictures to post from his birthday (even though it was in August) to Halloween! Enjoy!

Jace and I are trying to get ahead for our deathly finals that are soon to come! It has been a rough fall, but come December I feel that the light at the end of the tunnel will be visible! Come May, Jace will be a year into his program, and I'll be just shy of that. It is going to be a rough 2 years, but we can do it! I hope haha.
Thanks for reading!
Jace and I are reading the Book of Mormon together and we just finished Jacob last week. The last chapter in Jacob, chapter 7 is awesome and I recommend you read it. It talks about a man named Sherem who declares that there isn't a God. He goes around the city "that he might lead away the hearts of the people" and Jacob mentions that Sherem is really good with words and is able to lead people away from Christ with ease. My favorite part is when Jacob stands up to him in front of the people bearing his testimony:

9 And I said unto him: Deniest thou the Christ who shall come? And he said: If there should be a Christ, I would not deny him; but I know that there is no Christ, neither has been, nor ever will be.
10 And I said unto him: Believest thou the scriptures? And he said, Yea.
11 And I said unto him: Then ye do not understand them: for they truly testify of Christ. Behold, I say unto you that none of the prophets have written, nor prophesied, save they have spoken concerning this Christ.
12 And this is not all-- it has been made manifest unto me, for I have heard and seen; and it also has been made manifest unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, I know if there should be no atonement made all mankind must be lost.

Then Sherem says well then, if there is a God show me a sign! And Jacob answers in such a way that should be the answer to anyone, even now, who asks for us to make God show them a sign:

14 And I said unto him: What am I that I should tempt God to show unto thee a sign in the thing which thou knowest to be true? Yet thou wilt deny it, because thou art of the devil. Nevertheless, not my will be done; but if God shall smite thee, let that be a sign unto thee that he has power, both in heaven and in earth; and also, that Christ shall come. And thy will, O Lord, be done, and not mine.

Sure enough the power of the Lord did come upon Sherem and he fell to the earth! He tells everyone to gather the next day because he is going to die, and he wants to talk with them one last time:

17 And it came to pass that on the morrow the multitude were gathered together; and he spake plainly unto them and denied the things which he had taught them, and confessed the Christ, and the power of the Holy Ghost, and the ministering of angels.
18 And he spake plainly unto them, that he had been deceived by the power of the devil. And he spake of hell, and of eternity, and of eternal punishment.
19 And he said: I fear lest I have committed the unpardonable sin, for I have lied unto God; for I denied the Christ, and said that I believed the scriptures and they truly testify of him. And because I have thus lied unto God I greatly fear lest my case shall be awful; but I confess unto God.

Sherem died right after this speech. The people were astonished and Jacob's testimony was solidified that God does answer prayers. My testimony grew so much after I read this chapter. I cannot even tell you how many times I have had a run in with a "Sherem" and did not know what to say. They were not smitten, they did not humble themselves before God and "undeny" him, and I didn't want to say too much and offend. What is most important to note I think, is that if you deny Christ when you know that he is, it is unpardonable. This is not for me to judge of another; but it is extremely something that needs to be understood. I know a lot of people who "deny Christ" so to speak, and I hurt for them when Christ comes again. I hope that they can find a testimony in the gospel of Jesus Christ again soon.

Boy am I in need of an update! Hayes has been growing so so much, we had a blast of a summer and Jace and I are moving right along! This might be a wordy post so I'll do the fun stuff first so that if you'd like to stop reading you can.

ALL ABOUT HAYES:

Hayes turned 1 on August 12 and we did a hunting themed birthday. He loved eating the cake, got completely spoiled (twice) and I got completely spoiled with all of his new clothes to dress him in.

He has reached so many milestones! At his 1 year appointment he was 31in. tall and weighed 22lbs!

He was walking at about 11 months, saying doggie (goggie) mamamama (meaning mom or more) dadada (dad) OT!! (Dot our dog) AT (bat)

He is waving, dancing which is so hilarious; he sends out a pretty wicked vibe, chasing dot, walking, clapping, making baskets in his hoop, hitting his ball on the tee, he loves to look at books, can listen to me tell him to get his binkey and blankey, he is napping really well either 1 2 hour nap, or 2 1 hour naps, he has sat in time out about 5 times (usually for trying to eat Dot's dog food haha) but most importantly he is such a gem.

Hayes is such a laid back child I really did luck out. He is such a joy to us! I've never laughed so hard, cried so much, or felt so much love for a little human until him; now I find myself sitting in class thinking about the funny things he did today smiling to myself and missing him!

HOFF LIFE

Jace and I are completing Grad school!! Ya Heard!!! Both of us at.the.same.time. Pray for us.

We will probably start trying on baby #2 within a year.

We had a fun summer full of family time, water, and ball games!

We celebrated our 3rd Anniversary on the 19th of August! Psychologically we just dimished our divorce rate by 95%, I've learned. If you can make it past the 3 year mark you decrease your chances of divorce by 95%! Now we just gotta make it past the 7 year itch right you fellow psychologists?! I'm not worried :)

We are super poor, don't get out much, and find happiness in the little things! We sure are paying our dues, but it'll be worth it! So if we pass on fun plans because we have to stay home and quiz each other on school stuff don't be offended. :)

I will go right home and post pictures from his birthday and from the summer! You can also follow me on instagram for quicker updates! I know you are all dying to see my cute child (joke...but seriously he is so cute) so go find my instagram. I don't know my instagram name ha! Google it. But really Mom, get an instagram.

It was such a fun day. Jace got me a pair of CUTE peep toe wedges and a $40.00 gift card to get my nails done. I am very excited. He also tried to make me breakfast, but apparently we don't use our Bisquick enough because there were little bugs in it.... gag.

I got my mother just a little something special of some pictures of Hayes that I had taken. It was his first time getting them taken professionally and he did so good. We went to this cute place in Lehi called Camera Shy and they were so cute and great with kids. I couldn't be more happy about the turn out. Here are some of my favorites.
Yes, this is a giant picture overload, and I'm sure you already saw all these pictures on Facebook, but he is just so cute I can't even stand it. I want another baby just so I can document its life and love it and adore it and all of those wonderful things.

I also wanted to give a little shout out to my mother. She is the most wonderful mother on the earth! I love that she talks baby talk to her little pheasants right now and I love that she is always there for me. I told her that I think about the day I brought Hayes home a lot. And I think about her being here for me and helping me get the hang of "motherhood" and helping me clean my house. I don't know what I would have done without her help. I remember crying when she was leaving because I was so scared to be alone with a baby I knew nothing about. And because of the things she taught me to do, I know my baby and I love being a mother. I think about that week she was with me often, and I wonder what I'll be like when my kids have kids. And I hope I am like my mother. I always hope I am like my mother.
Jace applied to about 6 different Grad Schools for Physical Therapy. Long story super condensed, he was accepted to AT Still and had about 2 other interviews. One to Midwestern in Arizona and one to RMU in Provo. We really wanted to get into RMU because it is close to home, affordable (not really... but more so than the others) and it is only a 2 1/2 year program rather than 3. That doesn't seem like much, but anyone who has been to school understands how awesome a whole semester less actually is! Anyway we decided to take a gamble and decline AT Still, thinking we'd be a shoe in at RMU because of all our resources, and because they wanted a $500 deposit to "save our seat" and also because it would have easily been $100,000.000 for school alone..... no way. So we declined, got wait listed at RMU, and thought we were doomed. We hadn't heard from RMU for several weeks and were convinced we weren't getting in. After pouting and whining and being really bummed, we decided to take a leap of faith and have me quit my job and start looking into Grad school for myself. Well I am here to tell you to have a little faith people, because the day after I put in my two weeks we were accepted!!!! BEST DAY EVERRRR! Now Jace will be starting school on May 13th, (the day we also become really poor.... also a few days before Chelsey and Cody's anniversary!) and now I am waiting to see if I can get into this outreach program through USU which would be KILLER because they work with people who are mom's and stuff, as I am. The only thing I am worried about is them receiving my MAT score... say a pray people! So life is going great and we are so blessed I can't even explain it. We are also doing this scripture reading challenge that was created by our ward and it is forcing us to read and we needed that sooo much. Too often we take the good word for granted and I am grateful for the Book of Mormon. It changes my life each time I read it. Best book I own.

And now for what you've all been waiting for. Be prepared for a little bit of a picture overload, my kid has gotten cuter! I know you didn't think it was possible, but it is! I don't mean to sound prideful, but I seriously love this kid.

All About Hayes:

Hayes is still grabbing everything! Dot wants to punch him I'm sure. She only has so much hair that can be pulled out, come on now.

He has started laughing in his sleep. Most hilarious thing ever! He is also twitching while I rock him to sleep, just like daddy.

He started saying dadada. Now he says mamama and dadada, and sometimes bababa... and sometimes all at once sounding like badamababadabamama.

He loves to look at his hands, therefore I've started to teach him to wave. He is fascinated with the front and back of hands and how they change. So cute when I find him in his crib just looking at his hands.

He has started to "army crawl" and follows me everywhere! He ventured out onto the tile the other day and was a little hesitant at first, but now he can't get enough. I'm sure he will be helping with dishes soon like Jace did when he was little.

He loves his little basketball hoop (thanks Chels) he literally plays with it all day.

He has been through it all my little Hayes has: croup twice, diarrhea, RSV, ear aches, re-circumsized (YOU HEARD ME!!! re--- circumsized), and a little more. Now we are just gearing up for more bumps and bruises as he gets more mobile.

He love Dot. He laughs at her all day; even just when she turns her head.

He is eating a lot more now and sleeping better. Other than the night terrors, which is all I can come up with at this point. Some nights he literally wakes up screaming and after I rock him back to sleep he is out. Weird.

He will be 9 months on May 12th. Holy cow that went fast. Better start thinking about 1st birthday ideas.....

So read on! 5 fun facts about little ol' me:

1-- I'm an identical twin. Yes, this is something most of you readers know, but for those of you who don't, ta da! We are also mirror image twins which seems more like witch craft than anything, but if I lost my front left tooth she'd lose her front right tooth and so on. Maybe we are witches...

2-- I punched Travis Udink in elementary. Straight in the forehead. This might be a little bit of a confession, but I most certainly punched him. I also put another boy in a head lock because he said girls couldn't play football. So first, I kicked his ASS in football, then basically took away what was left of his manhood by putting him in a head lock. Tom boy?? Bully?? Tom boy, Tom boy... I'm sticking with that.

3-- I am the most motivated/motivating person in the world, but surprisingly I have some super down days. Especially being a retired college athlete and just having had a baby it is hard to find gym time, energy, happiness in my new self. Luckily exercise releases endorphins that make me happy so I continue to do so, but man it can be hard!

4-- I love to write. I have books and tablets and post-it's of poetry, songs, lyric ideas. I literally use to have dreams about melodies and I'd write them with a little strum of the guitar the next day; or sometimes right there in the middle of the night. I think it could have possibly gone somewhere, no where far, but maybe if I tried! Maybe I'll post some of them one day.

5-- I like to play tricks on people in their sleep. Ruthless perhaps, but I can't even describe how hilarious it is when Jace is sound asleep and I can't sleep because who knows why, and he jumps out of bed when I yell "there's a fireaaaaaaaa?!?!?" It is hilarious. Maybe I'll film it one time.

5 things about yourself! Ready go!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-787421513866930594.post-10002068776746572072013-03-14T06:17:00.000-07:002013-03-14T06:28:24.993-07:00Thoughtful ThursdaySoooo, I've basically been copying the crap out of some other blogs lately, and lets just say its going well! Haha HOWEVER....I think a new segment is needed much by me. It is going to be called.....

Ri-Freakin-Di (ridiculous) for good and bad things happening lately. Enjoy.

RI-FREAKIN-DI (say it with me guys!! Feels good don't it! Feel free to finish it with diculous if you so desire.)

First things first, I've got a 7 month old! You heard me! Who had to be re-circumcised on his 7 month mark!!!!! (I know you are thinking it......Ri-freakin-diculous am I right?!?!?) it wasn't azzzzz bad as it sounds, it was only a small section and I had been trying to thin the skin out with steroid cream, but nonetheless the re-circumcision did happen and We weren't happy. Then the receptionist at the clinic had the nerve to ask if I was going to pay for it again. Well since you asked, I guess I do have somewhat of a right and urge to scream right in your lousy face HELL NO!!!!

Speaking of Hayes, he is saying baba and mama, but no dada yet. I know the mama isn't quite on purpose yet, but it is cute! He tried scooting on his bum the other day and it was so cute and much better than bridging on his head. Ya bridging, it's a new term. Nobody's doing it, except for Hayes so YOU BET it is cool! But really though, I had him strapped in one of those front carrier things the other day, hunch over as close to the ground as I could possibly get without falling into child's pose (na ma stay Rand) trying to teach him to crawl and it turned into me crawling and him dragging his arms and legs. Hilarious thought? Yes it is. I did notice at one point his head was looking under through my legs as I'm hunched over in a crawling position, so I joined him in looking and there was Dot, through the crawl hole, chasing her tail. I must give it to him that I would be distracted as well. Dang dog.

We moved and are out of our moldy house!!! It was RIDICULOUS to say the least, but we are out. Oh and I think Hayes has been sleep deprived because of the mold and he is now currently sleeping until 10:00. I don't even sleep until 10:00, whatever should I do with my time? Not clean..... Actually I probably should.

I've been watching the 4th season of Parks and Rec and Lesley Knope recently made a reference to Friday Night Lights, so now I love it even more, and Randee and Nichole, and Jason Street..... But mostly Tim.

My moms birthday present came AGAIN! Yes again, because the first time it was broken and after sitting on the phone with Regina for an hour she reimbursed me and sent another one! Thanks Regina guurrrrrl!! I can't wait she is gonna love it! I hope.

On that note I just want everyone to know that my parents are so legit. Too legit. Way more legit than I. They go on road trips, they plan ski days, they do fun stuff man! I will not lie when I tell you that Jace and I are highly concerned with being fun parents and teaching Hayes everything we know (even how to crawl) and a bulk of our arguments/discussions begins with.... "My parents do more fun things than us!!" We needed a little inspiration, and thus we received some.

We're headed to St. George taaaa day!! Best part about it? THE HAFENS ARE GOING TOO!! Unplanned. Awesomeness. Wanna know another best part(Andy voice from PandC) I got Hayes a swimsuit! And St. George has Christensens!! Google it! Best. Store. Everrrr. Hayes probably won't get to go swimming though because of his little wee....... THANKS DOC!!!!! WE OWE YA BIG TIME!!!!! RIDICULOUS.

Last one of the day, I have been trying to lose baby weight since, August Les-be honest. And nothing was working and I was a cheater majority of the time. BUT I am here to tell you that I found something that works for me! I will probably be blogging about the dets soon, but I have lost 5 pounds this week, am eating things like broccoli, chicken, cottage cheese, protein packed breakfasts, 5egg whites, and sweet potatoes. Also doing an awesome workout routine and I'm loving life. I've added Hydroxycut and it is going pretty well. I know that kind of stuff has side effects (aka...... really crazy dreams) so I'm hoping I'll be off of it before you can say Ri-freaking-Di!!!

Have a great day all!! I'd post a picture of Hayes but this is from my iPad so head to Facebook for those!

He wasn't too fond of the pool water (indoor pool) it was still kinda cold, but we went in the hot tub (it wasn't on) and it was like a warm bath and he loved it! Hope you enjoy this picture like I do!
Right now this is what Hayes is up to:

He is starting to eat veggies and rice cereal and without fail he always gags on the first bite (mom remind you of someone?) then he remembers that he likes to eat it, and spit it at mommy and he continues.

He rolled from his back to his belly yesterday but I'm not completely sold that he did it on purpose so we won't celebrate right now; he kinda scared himself.

He smiles at EVERYTHING all the time! It is so cute. When I go to get him out of bed in the morning he is justa talking and cooing and right when he sees me he smiles. melt.

He kicks everything, even your face so watch out! He kicks Dot all the time and I just have to tell her not to be offended because he is learning.

He grabs everything too! Beards, hair, toys, Dot's tail as she is trying to jump off the bed haha.

He likes to sit in his Bumbo with the tray Gram got us for Christmas, he loves all of his new toys especially his football that is squishy.

He is now taking bottles; formula and breast milk. RSV kinda ruined the whole nursing thing, but at least he is getting the nutrients somehow right?

He is wearing 6-12 month clothes and is so chubby I love it.

We've noticed that his fingers are really long. (maybe he will be a pitcher)

His head is rounding out after being kinda flat on one side for a while. No helmet for us! woo!

He talks all the time and will suck on anything you put on his lips so you can imagine we've had some fun with that... nothing gross like a dog treat but mashed potatoes and things like that. He makes awesome face expressions.

He can almost sit up! so close!

He slobbers on everything, but I don't mind the slobbery kisses.

we love our little Hayeser!!
Don't get me wrong it was wonderful to see my sister and her cute kiddos and the rest of my family, but it is probably a good thing that Hayes will not remember his very first Christmas. He got RSV about 2 weeks ago and it is slowly but surely going away. He started off not so hot at the beginning of the month with a minor cold and it only lasted a couple weeks and went away for a few days. Well those few days later he was sneezing like crazy again, very congested, and this time got a cough. I didn't think anything of it until it started sounding really tight and scratchy. My first thought was CROUP!!! Which is really scary. So we ran him over to an instacare where we found out he doesn't have CROUP and they decided to test him for RSV just to be safe. Good thing we did that because it came back positive and at that moment our Christmas break was over. Since then Hayes lost around 3 pounds, he wouldn't nurse consistently therefore my milk isn't coming in consistently, he wouldn't take a formula bottle, wouldn't take 1/2 and 1/2, he would only take breast milk out of a bottle but because my milk wasn't coming in I could only pump about 2 ounces (when he was eating about 4.... hence the weight loss) then he wasn't having a bowel movement so we had to give him prune juice and stick a q-tip up his bum to try and help him poop, then he wasn't sleeping because he couldn't breathe and was coughing all night. Things have gotten better, but everything is so messed up now I don't know what to do so I decided to blog about it and at least feel better about it. Just when we think he is taking formula now, or he is back to nursing, he changes his mind again. Today was really special because he was up every hour of the night, hardly nursed around 5 a.m. and a little more at 6 a.m. and wouldn't eat when I tried to feed him at 9, same thing at 10 (he use to eat every three hours) Sometimes he'll eat 5 1/2 ounces, sometimes he'll eat 1 ounce. Sometimes he is fussy so I can tell he really is hungry; other times (like today) he is so happy so I don't know if he just isn't hungry, has lost his appetite, or is getting sicker (however the symptoms have improved). Has this post stressed you out yet? Anyway all in all, we think he is getting better, but who knows! He hasn't needed another breathing treatment so that's good. My milk is next to none right now which makes me want to cry because I wanted to nurse my baby for a good solid year. Hayes won't nurse or take formula today. He DID poop yesterday so that's good I guess. And Jace and I are so tired after the last few nights we've had. And Jace is working an 11 hour day today. Our start for 2013 is not as happy as I wish it was. Hayes will be a 5 month old in a couple weeks though, so maybe we will hit a few milestones despite our setbacks.
(literally though he weighs 15 pounds... who needs the gym when I have my own dumbbell?) He turned 4 months on 12.12.12 so that was a special day for us, even though I heard on the radio that it must be twice as bad as 666.

All About Hayes:

He loves tummy time even more now. he is trying to get his knees up under his belly so I fear that he might be crawling before he rolls over.

As mentioned above he has yet to roll over. He has discovered his feet though so I'm sure it won't be long before I can't leave him on the couch anymore.

He is babbling and eating his hands which also means he is teething (drool everywhere). Often times throughout the day Hayes looks like he has been swimming, but don't be fooled... it is TEETHING and DROOLING. cute...

He is a mama's boy and it is a good and bad thing. Good when cuddling is fun... bad when I need a break.

He is starting to grab things in front of him.... like anything and everything. (ask me how much hair I have left?) But it is cute to see him really focus on grabbing a rattle and and missing haha. Weird how is eyes aren't fully developed. Better take care of that before we play catch huh Hayes? shoot his eye out!

He loves this Elmo toy Chels let us borrow. Good thing we've got sisters who've already been mommies and can lend such helping hands (and advice aunt cocoa)

We love Dee Dee too especially because she likes to hold Hayes and give mom a break! No favorites here we love everyone! (but we especially love to poop!!)

Speaking of poop, Hayes has a blow-out daily! At least he is getting the hang of it. (just like daddy :))

He can roll from his stomach to his back so I guess that is improvement! It kind of scares him though.

It is getting so fun, and so hard ha. I feel this duo relationship will be with us for the rest of time now; fun and hard. He is so eager to learn and try, try again. He likes to practice sitting and standing and has almost got the hang of sitting until he falls too far forward and looks like he is doing the pike stretch. Wow Hayes, not yet!

He is such a stud muffin and there are so many things I want to tell you about him that you don't know because he is hilarious and sweet and sometimes clumsy and he loves every single thing about me; and I just wish you all could know him like I do. Good or bad this guy right here has my back no matter what. He sticks up for me no matter what, he laughs at my really, really hilarious jokes; and my not so funny ones, he lets me ask ridiculous questions and this is my favorite thing about him because anyone that knows me, knows I am curious about a lot of things. Every time I have a question he drops everything he is doing to make sure he can answer it perfectly (probably so that if our children ask me the same questions one day, I won't tell them potatoes come from cows) He is my best friend. It's funny how things can change in a small amount of time, I only graduated 4 years ago, and it was with some of the best friends a girl could have, but Jace is truly my number 1. It doesn't matter what we do, he is such a fun person. Especially when we play the "would you like me if I looked like this" game. I think the greatest thing about him is that I didn't even see it coming. Right before I met Jace my dating life had gone up in flames basically and I had pretty much dated every breed of guy that I DID NOT want to end up with, and about a week before I met him I told myself the next guy I dated I was just gonna let it happen; not rush into anything or pull away from anything or over think anything and I got rid of the perfect guy list I had stored up in my head. And right when I let my heart take control and when I learned to trust myself, Jace flashed me that million dollar smile and I was smitten.

Here is a little bit about the guy I married:

He is tender hearted- He always lets Dot cuddle with him. Always.

He is passionate- Every single thing he does, he does it with a full heart.

He is strong- Jace has been through some pretty trying times in his life and it has done nothing but strengthen him.

He puts others first- He will always make sure his friends and family are doing ok, pretty much weekly he is calling people to check in.
He is a great friend- He has more friends than anyone I've ever met. At first it use to get annoying saying hi to everyone we saw when we were out and about, but now I love it. He is so friendly and it's admirable.
He loves me- he loves me in all my forms, stretch marks and all! He tells me every day how beautiful I am and that I need to give myself more credit.
He has awesome dance moves- and by awesome I mean I am rolling on the ground crying with laughter while he dances.
He loves Hayes- Hayes will never feel more love than he does from his dad. Jace just holds him and looks at him like he has so much to teach him and he can't wait to just be Hayes best buddy and I love that.
He will be 2 months old on Friday and he is changing every day. It is funny when we introduce him to new people because then the next time they see him he is a completely different baby! Things have been picking up their pace at our home and I am back working 2 days a week while Jace babysits and it is just the perfect schedule. Jace is doing a lot of hunting right now, I feel like our Octobers don't even exist because it is ALWAYS the busiest month. Jace has a good time hunting and I love that he can go out with family and friends and have a good time (as long as I get to go shopping or something :))

All About Hayes:
He currently weighs 12 pounds! Hefty Hayes
He is 22 inches long and is the shortest of his friends
He sticks his tongue out ALL the time, like a cow. We say, "where's cow?" and put our fingers by his lips and there comes the tongue! So cute. Then Chels started calling him moo-moo. Nickname!
He likes to push off of your stomach with his feet like he wants to stand! He is going to be walking before ya know it!
He really likes to do tummy time. Every time he does he can't help but smile. After a while he gets tired and wants to be done, but he just tries so hard it is the cutest thing.
He is kicking his feet like crazy right now! And he is starting to make cute little noises. This morning I was talking to him and I felt like he smiled at me on purpose and actually saw me. It was so cute!
He is sleeping about 4 hours in a row at night and he eats every 3 during the day.
He loves his swing and he is finally warming up to his bouncer, now that he can bounce it and he fits in it now.
Whenever Jace comes home and starts to play with him he just stares at him. Jace will tell you it's because his face is symmetrical and babies are attracted to that, but I think it's because he knows who daddy is!
He loves to cuddle snug as a bug right on my chest.
He still struggles with the bowel movements and I have to give him gas drops, but it's getting better gradually.
He loves the tubby he HATES lotion afterwards haha. He literally screams the whole time it's awesome.
He also loves to poop in the tubby which makes it an eventful night for mommy and daddy.
We had a play date the other day with six other mommies and their baby boys and we took cute pictures I'll have to post them soon!
He grunts and snorts haha. It's really funny.
He loves to stare at our picture of Jesus in the living room; and he smiles at him.
He loves his new playmate 2 days a week (aka dad)
He watches football; like literally. AWESOME
He loves when you sing I Am A Child Of God.
He doesn't budge an inch when Dot barks at something ridiculous, but when I step on the floor and it squeaks, he wakes up haha.
He knows who I am and I think that is my favorite thing of all. He knows my voice, my heartbeat, my skin and he knows that no one else is mommy. I finally feel like I have that mother's touch and I love it. I already want another baby and not because it's easy or anything, it's really hard, I just love knowing that there is someone in this life that knows the deepest parts about me. I mean Jace is honestly my other half, he knows as much about me as he can, but Hayes lived in me. He was next to my heart, he felt my laugh my cry everything. I feel like babies are so much smarter than adults because they react based on feelings and Hayes is so smart. He knows when I'm trying to make his tummy feel better, he knows when I'm done putting up with the crying and he needs to calm down, he knows that even though I cover him in cold lotion I still love him and when I'm trying to stop his "purple face" crying after the lotion lathering that I sincerely still care about him haha. I am just amazed every day with how much he already knows and how much he communicates without words. It is such an extraordinary bond and you can't get it anywhere else.
I especially love that when I come home from work he just stops and stares at me like he does with Jace and you can just see in his eyes that he recognizes your presence and it soothes him. Right when I get home from work I just pick him up and have to hold him instantly and he lays on my shoulder like he missed me. He needs everything about me and he doesn't judge me and he trusts me and it is just such an amazing responsibility; but it isn't a pressured responsibility it's a proud responsibility. Everything I do I want Hayes to approve of and I want him to be happy and he is and it is an amazing feeling to feel that loved by someone who cannot tell me he loves me with words.

Love,
Wow does the time fly. His clothes are a little large in the picture posted above, but "thems are hims big boy clothes". Hayes weighed 9.2 pounds last Monday, so by now he has GOT to be at least 12 pounds because he is a Heavy Hayes!! Good gosh, my arms about break every time I hold him. But if my arms had to break for anyone, it would definitely be that cute kid!

This weekend we went to visit Grandpa Dan and it was such a good time. Grandpa Dan has been sick for a while with Leukemia and we aren't really sure how much longer he has. The Doctors told him to just live his life because there isn't much they can do other than try to keep him out of pain; so he gets a blood transfusion every few weeks. If it weren't for the cancer, he'd be the healthiest 85 year old I know because he still does his chores on the ranch and he is so active; which is why the cancer is so tragic. ON A LIGHTER NOTE, we had so much fun! We saw the horses and took some fun pictures.
Not really choking, but his head was kinda falling and I didn't want to say anything so we would just wait until he kinda cried and then Grandpa Dan would straighten him out again. A little choking never hurt anyone right?! haha
On Monday the 6th of August, Jace and I went to what we didn't know would be our last appointment before baby Hayes arrived. Hayes hadn't dropped at all, which was awful news to get for a 3rd time; and I was not dilated at all AGAIN and my pelvis felt very small which to me didn't sound very promising a week away from my due date. and that is when Dr. Nance spoke such magic words. He said we could proceed with the pregnancy and wait for me to go into labor and if I don't go into labor by my due date or a week after, then he could induce me OR we could schedule a C-section within a week of my due date. I decided to go with the C-section because with my pelvis break and all, I really didn't want to wait and see if I went into labor, may or may not experience a difficult labor and then be rushed into an emergency C-section.

We scheduled the C-section for Sunday August 12th at 7:30 am which meant arrival time was 5:30 am and I could not have been more thrilled that I now knew the exact hour and day my baby would be arriving. Although I had 9 months to prepare, it sure only felt like I had that last and final week to prepare. I am here to tell you all 1 thing at this particular time. YOU ARE NEVER PREPARED... in a good way.

I didn't sleep the entire night before and I had the worst song stuck in my head about motorboating on the pontoon, so 5:30 came really fast. The whole thing went pretty fast and I managed to stay in control of my emotions better than I planned. The epidural was NOT that bad, the shot before the epidural was worse. They threw my legs on the table which was really weird, not feeling your entire bottom half, and they began to cut. Jace was right there watching and he'd occasionally rub my shoulder for support, but I knew when they must have been cutting deeper or doing something crazy because Jace would rub a little harder and say are you okay? haha I couldn't feel anything.

The first thing they saw was his ear and out he came! He was in the NICU for about 2 hours with some respiratory problems being a C-section baby and all, but after that he was such a gem. I didn't get to hold him right away but when they showed him to me I was in complete shock that He is what I was growing for 9 months. We made him, those three words just solidify the gospel don't they?
Right after he was born I got this really weird pain in my left side and it was burning every 10 seconds. I ended up having a blood clot that was stuck and my Dr. said I basically experienced both kinds of delivery that day! That was probably the worst thing about the whole delivery.

Baby Hayes is now 3 1/2 weeks old and he weighs 9.2 lbs and is 21 inches long! He grows more and more every day. I'm hoping to have a little segment of blogging called All About Hayes where I'll constantly give updates on him as he grows and hopefully it'll serve as a journal for him to read when he is older.
We just had a little photo shoot with Hayes for his birth announcement and blessing invite and these are a few of my favorite pictures
All About Hayes:

9.2lbs
21 in.
Loves to stretch
Sleeps with his arms by his head
Says mamamama when he cries (not on purpose and I don't want to read into anything, but it's probably a sign that I'm his favorite)
Poops at least 8 times a day
Takes a binky better now
Loves tummy time. When he is on my chest curled up like a bug, that is actually tummy time for him right now, and I'll say things like, "Hayes where's mom, come find mommy, where am I!" And he'll kinda struggle with his neck and face plant a few times, but then he lifts his strong little neck, finds my voice and looks me right in the eyes and then lays back on my chest like "whew I did it!" and it melts my heart! I want to video it one day so I'll get on that.
He lets dot basically lay on whatever pillow we use when he eats. It becomes a family affair. I need to get a picture of it.
Well the nursery isn't completely finished, we are still missing a few decorations, but it is definitely ready for our sweet baby Hayes! Here are some pictures of what it looked like before. I am an idiot and didn't take a picture of what it looked like to begin with, but it has this old 60's paneling that smelled really bad (otherwise it would have been cool) but it smelled old and gross.

So spoiled already! Do you see the things on the rug? Those are his puppy slippers waiting for him at the foot of his bed. I call them "hims dots"

So there you have it. I guess we are ready to rock and roll! We started on 1 week appointments at 37 weeks and Dr. Nance said I was about 1/2 effaced and not dilated at all. At 38 weeks I had effaced 60% and was still not dilated and the baby hadn't dropped at all. At 39 weeks I had effaced 70% and the baby still hadn't dropped and Dr. Nance said my pelvis felt small. He then said we could proceed and just wait for me to go into labor and if I hadn't by my due date then we could induce a week after (I guess that is standard procedure with first babies) OR we could schedule a c-section within a week of my due date. So I jumped all over that because I really didn't want to go into labor if he felt like my pelvis was small at 39 weeks because that means it'll probably be small at 40 weeks too and that just didn't sound awesome to me to try a normal delivery, have Hayes not fit because of my broken hips and say "ope, we were right it isn't going to work!" Then rush into an emergency c-section... ya not happening. So Hayes is scheduled to arrive this Sunday the 12th which is a way better number than 16, at 7:30am! That means I have to wake up and be to the hospital at 5:30am... Doing this for you Hayes! Dot is so excited she can hardly stand it!

On another note, I received a cute package from my sister Cole today and it was full of wonderful things including cute dino jammies, a breast pump, diapers, graduation gift, and this cute book
This will probably be my last blog for a bit until Hayes gets here and we get settled. Hope your summer has been as eventful as ours!
